Iranian polymaths like Avicenna made groundbreaking discoveries in anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology over 1,000 years ago that laid the foundations for modern medicine and biology.
In recent decades, Iranian-Americans have continued this legacy of bioengineering innovation, drawing on their rich Iranian cultural heritage. Iranian-American bioengineers are leading research in diverse areas like biomedical imaging, biomaterials, biosensors, and cell/tissue engineering. Their groundbreaking work has led to impactful technologies that diagnose diseases earlier and develop personalized treatment plans for patients.
